10月23日，河北省首届高校硕士研究生英语翻译大赛组委会公布了决赛入围名单。我校有10名同学成功入围决赛，入围人数居河北省高校前列。外国语学院学生张若丹、宋宏阳、张海英等6人入围专业组笔译决赛；园艺学院曹扬、生命学院郭晓月和经济管理学院时一凡等3人入围非英语专业组笔译决赛；外国语学院蔡敏入围英语口译组决赛。

学校高度重视此次比赛。9月中旬，研究生学院、外国语学院联合举办了此项比赛的校园选拔赛，有210名研究生报名参加。经过严格的评审，39名同学进入省赛的复赛。比赛为我校学子搭建了展示自我、互相交流的良好平台，同时也极大调动了学生学习英语尤其是翻译的热情。

本次比赛由河北省教育厅主办、河北科技大学承办，旨在以赛促学，提高学生专业学识及语言实际应用能力，开阔学生视野，促进研究生创新能力和实践能力培养，发掘新时代优秀翻译人才，推动语言服务业的繁荣发展。

10 HAU Students Reach Finals of Hebei Translation and Interpreting Contest

On October 23th, the Organizing Committee of the First Hebei English Translation and Interpreting Contest for Postgraduates announced the finalists. 10 postgraduates from Hebei Agricultural University qualified for the finals, including Zhang Ruodan, Song Hongyang, Zhang Haiying, Cai Min, Chen Huan, Yin Heying from College of Foreign Languages for the translation finals for English majors; Cao Yang from College of Horticulture, Guo Xiaoyue from College of Life Sciences and Shi Yifan from College of Economics and Management for the translation finals for non-English majors; Cai Min from College of Foreign Languages for the finals of English interpreting. The total number of qualifiers from HAU ranks among the best universities in Hebei Province.

As always, HAU attached great importance to this contest. As early as mid-September, the Graduate School and College of Foreign Languages jointly hosted a campus-wide preliminary contest. After strict examination and assessment, 39 from 210 postgraduate candidates headed for the semi-finals. The contest provided HAU postgraduates with a good stage to show themselves and to exchange ideas with each other, which inspired great enthusiasm in postgraduates for English learning, particularly translation and interpreting.

Endorsed by Hebei Education Department and hosted by Hebei University of Science and Technology, the contest aims to promote learning through competition, enhance the postgraduates’ professional knowledge and the language ability for practical use, broaden their horizons, strengthen their innovative and practical abilities, so as to cultivate brilliant translators and interpreters for the new era and to promote the prosperity and progress in the language service industry.(Translated by Zhang Haiying, MTI 2020)
