English Department Held the First Session of Face-to-face Instruction of “TEM-4 Intensive Training Program”
On March 15th, 2018, the first session of face-to-face instruction of “TEM-4 Intensive Training Program” was hosted by English Department for all sophomore English majors at the language lab on the 5th floor in the comprehensive building.
Ms. Liu Ji, Ms. Liu Yang, and Ms. Li Chunyan reflected explicitly and specifically on language points according to previous simulated TEM-4 tests and answered questions raised by students on site.
Three simulated tests will be released weekly via Itest, a platform for online testing, chiefly aiming at grammar and reading skills. Statistics on the results will afterwards provide data for face-to-face instructions on every Thursday afternoon.
“TEM-4 Intensive Training Program” is designed to interpret new question models and provide problem-solving techniques and strategies, so as to enhance the efficiency of exam preparation, and effectively improve the passing rate of TEM-4.（翻译：赵若琳 英语 1602班 指导教师：刘杨

English Department Held the Second Session of “TEM-4 Intensive Training Program”
In order to help English Majors better cope with the TEM-4 examination, after the first session of the TEM-4 examination-training program, the second was held at the language lab on the 5th floor in the comprehensive building on March 22. All sophomores of English Department attend the second session of training. The training program was initiated by Ms. Liu Ji, Ms. Liu Yang, and Ms. Li Chunyan. Of the three teachers, Ms. Liu Ji is the main lecturer of the second session.
The related material for practice was uploaded through the iTEST platform on March 13. In this session of the training program, the three teachers jointly analyzed the students' answers and the distribution of their grades for different types of questions. Ms. Liu Ji pointed out problems existing in most students and then helped them do further analysis. At last, she focused on the grammar points with sufficient examples illustrating the grammatical phenomenon “predicate verb and nominal clauses”. The three teachers released the related material afterwards.

English Department Held The Third Session of “TEM-4 Intensive Training Program”
The third session of the TEM-4 examination-training program was held at the language lab on the 5th floor in the comprehensive building on March 29. The training program was organized by Ms. Liu ji, Ms. Liu Yang, and Ms. Li Chunyan. Of the three teachers, Ms. Liu Ji is the main lecturer of the third session for all sophomore English majors.
Before giving a lecture, Ms. Liu Ji stressed the severity of the TEM-4 examination and reminded all students that the exam is round the corner. Everyone should prepare for the exam in an orderly way in the next three weeks. At the same time, Ms. Liu Ji analyzed the exam results of the first three times of the students and affirmed everyone's progress. In the process of face-to-face instruction, Ms. Liu Ji gave a lecture patiently with some related material and helped students analyze the method of answering the questions. In addition, Ms. Liu Ji also explained many fallible and similar grammar points carefully to students , such as the usage of “every, each, such and than”. Ms. Liu Ji's language is full of humor and the class atmosphere is lively. After the lecture, all students reflect and summarize carefully, and have a deeper understanding of relevant grammar points.
This training program has helped students sort out problem-solving techniques of new questions and enhanced their confidence. It provides valuable experience for their future study.

English Department Held the Fifth Session of Face-to face Instruction of TEM-4 Intensive Training Program
On April 12th, 2018, the fifth session of face-to-face instruction of TEM-4 Intensive Training Program was hosted by English Department for all sophomore English majors at the language lab on the 5th floor in the comprehensive building.
Unlike the first four activities, Ms. Liu Ji, Ms. Liu Yang, and Ms. Li Chunyan organized offline mock exams to have a comprehensive understanding of students’ mastery of vocabulary and grammar, cloze and reading comprehension.
First of all, Ms. Liu Yang explained reading comprehension in details by combining with mock test. Ms. Liu Yang provided a number of reading skills such as semantic conversion, finding the key words, skipping and skimming, etc. Moreover, she helped students to realize the importance of a good mentality in the examination. Subsequently, Ms. Liu Ji focused on the vocabulary and grammar. In the grammar part, she elaborated on the sensory verb in the passive voice, the guide words of adverbial clause and other knowledge points. In the vocabulary part, she discriminated the synonyms through the English explanations. What is more, Ms. Liu Ji encouraged students to read the original English works to expand their vocabulary.
The fifth session of TEM-4 Intensive Training Program is designed to help students clear out the blind spots of knowledge, master the problem-solving strategies and improve their speed and accuracy during the sprint stage. (翻译:白润平 英语1603班 指导教师:李春燕)

English Department Held the Sixth Session of Face-to-face Instruction of TEM-4 Intensive Training Program
At 4:15 pm on April 19th, 2018, the sixth session of face-to-face instruction was held at the language lab on the 5th floor in the Comprehensive Building. The face-to-face instruction was combined with the second TEM-4 offline mock exam. Ms.Liuji, Ms.Li Chunyan, and Ms.Liuyang gave detailed explanations on grammar, listening, and reading.
Firstly, the vocabulary and grammar questions were explained byMs. Liuji, mainly focusing on the knowledge points such as modal verbs, verb infinitives, and distinguishing synonyms. Secondly, Ms. Li Chunyan pointed out that in the listening part studentsshould pay attention to splitting and understanding long sentences, and details such as discourse signal words and capitalizinginitialletter. In the end, Ms. Liuyang explained the reading comprehension and pointed out that in the multi-choice part, students needed to promptly and accurately locate the key words of each choice in the passage,then try to compare and judge them. Besides, Ms. Liuyang proposed that the multi-choice questions should be done together with the short answer questions in the same passage to improve efficiency.
As the final face-to-face instruction before TEM4 exam, the three teachers gave a comprehensive analysis of the different types of questions, encouraged the students to maintain a good mind, and expected everyone to play the best in the TEM-4 exam!(作者:巨梦蕾 英语1603班 指导教师:李春燕)
The Seventh Session of Face-to-face Instruction of TEM4 Intensive Training Program Held
At 4：00p.m on May 3rd, 2018, the seventh session of face-to-face instruction of TEM4 intensive training program was held at the language lab on 5th floor in the Comprehensive Building. This training was the first instruction after TEM4. Ms. Liu Ji, Ms Liu Yang, and Ms Li Chunyan are the three sponsors of this program. Ms. Liu Ji, the main lecturer, analyzed the language points and cloze tested in TEM4, 2018 and gave students detailed interpretations.
In the section of basic knowledge, through the anlysis of Ms. Liu, it was discovered that the language points tested in TEM4, 2018 are in much extent corresponded with what had been trained in the first six sessions of this program. On vocabulary, Ms. Liu elaborated the students’ ways to differentiate and analyze synonyms as well as skills to cope with the similar problems. She also recommended students to read English masterpieces, Englsih publications through viarious public medium as means to enlarge their vocabulary and collect more idiomatic usage.
The trainees of the program gave their feedback that it was of great significance that TEM4 intensive training program was not only instructive to taking exams but also laid a solid foundation for grammar learning. In addition, it is helpful in the enhancement of students’ learning skills.
